The damage:
- Too much Italian food. Pfft. The diet is obviously out the window. Will resume in earnest after I detox in Thailand.
- At least three cigs at the resto, and at least three more at M Cafe.
- At least two glasses of red at the resto, and two vodka-sodas at M.
- Got to bed at 1 AM, up at 6:15 for the 7:30 CrossFit.
Warm-up:
- 3-minute jump ropes
- 20 squats
- 20 side-to-side push-ups
WOD:
- 24 barbell front squats
- 12 burpee pull-ups (The men used the bar and the women used the rings.)
For women, the recommended weight (Rx) for squats was 95 lbs. Ummm... No, thanks. I have no desire to have Hulk Hogan's legs, thank you. I went with 45 lbs. And since I didn't do the Rx, instead of just doing three rounds, I had to do five.
CrossFit's two Amazon women were the only ones doing Rx and they finished first. I came in third at 25:18 minutes.
While everyone was struggling pushing up with their legs on the squats, it was my wrists that were giving me issues. Maybe I was holding the barbell wrong? But holding the barbell up, triceps parallel to the floor, only shoved the barbell well into my throat. I could barely breathe with all the nicotine in my lungs, I didn't need to be choking on the barbell too. Hmmm... How to do...
